If I Stop SSI Would I Get More From My Husband's Account?

I've been on ssi for more the 20 years
But my husband passed way I'm singed up for videos benefit and get 730 a month and ssi 236 a month
If I stop ssi would I get more from I'm husbands
Cause I only get 937 a month not enough to live on

Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. The answer to your question is no. Stopping your Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments would not allow you to get a higher Social Security widow's benefit. Social Security widow's benefits are calculated based on the deceased worker's earnings history, so whether or not you collect SSI has nothing to do with your widow's benefit rate.

Best, Jerry
