If I Draw Disabled Survivor Benefits Can't I Draw SSI?

if I draw disable dependent survivor from my husband but I am disable because of cancer stage 3 cant I draw ssi they said I didn't have enough credits for disability

Hi,

If you're drawing disabled widow's benefits or surviving divorced spousal benefits, then you would also be considered disabled for purposes of qualifying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). However, you would only be eligible for SSI payments if you're below the income and resource limits for that needs based program. You may want to try using the this SSI screening tool to see if you'd qualify: https://ssabest.benefits.gov/. Or, you can simply contact Social Security to apply for SSI and receive a determination on your eligibility.

Best, Jerry
