How Will My Spousal Benefit Rate Be Calculated?

I was born 12-8-1953. I will be able to file a restricted application when I reach my FRA on my husband's benefit. He started his benefits at age 62. Will my spousal be figured on his reduced amount and at what percent or on what would have been his FRA benefit? I have read conflicting statements.

Hi,

If you file just for spousal benefits only effective with the month that you reach full retirement age (FRA), you will receive 50% of your husband's full unreduced retirement age rate (PIA) regardless of at what age he started drawing his benefits.

Best, Jerry
