How Do I Get Widower Benefits?

How do I get widower benefits I was married 22 years he passed away 10 years. Is there any way I can get widower benefits because I can't live on 728 a month that all I get

Hi,

The only way that you could get widow(er) benefits is by filing an application with Social Security. You can initiate that process by calling 800-772-1213.

I have no way of knowing whether or not you'll qualify for widow(er) benefits, though. If you're drawing your own benefits, the only way you'd be able to get additional widow(er) benefits is if your deceased spouse's benefit rate was, or would have been, higher than your own benefit rate.

Best, Jerry
