Hi. If you meet the requirements for divorced spousal benefits (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.03/handbook-0311.html), then you should be able to apply for them. There's not enough information in your question for me to be able to give you much advice, though.

If you kept copies of your joint tax returns, those should show your ex-wife's Social Security number (SSN). If you can't come up with anything in your records that shows your ex's SSN and if you meet the requirements for divorced spousal benefits, then you should probably try recontacting Social Security. If you can furnish enough biographical information such as your ex-wife's maiden name, date and place of birth etc., then Social Security should be able to search their records to find your ex's SSN.
