I worked for a subsidiary of the Santa Fe Railroad for 6 years (79 to 85) in which I paid into railroad retirement. How can I determine if I am eligible for any railroad retirement?

Hi Mark,

You can check with the Railroad Retirement Board (https://rrb.gov/), but if you had less than 10 years of railroad work and you last worked for them in 1985 then it's unlikely that you'd qualify for a railroad retirement (RR) pension. However, if you don't qualify for a RR pension then your RR earnings can be used by Social Security when calculating your Social Security retirement benefit rate.
