Do You Know If I Qualify For State Insurance?

Hello Larry
I’m hoping you can help me
I have recently moved to Lake Havasu City Arizona with my 10 year old son after my husbands passing due to Lymphoma in August 2016.
My son and I collect survivors benefits each receiving $1834 a month.
I recently applied in Arizona Marketplace insurance during enrollment period and the system referred us to ACCESS which is AZ Medicade from what I understand.
Last week I broke my wrist 3 places need a plate in to fix it surgery scheduled for Wednesday Jan. 16th and now it seems as if I do. It qualify for this ACCESS due to the amount received from survivors benefits.
I called Marketplace and they say I do qualify because survivor benefits not taxable.
They placed my son under Airzona CHIP program so he’s covered.
I need this surgery next week and so much conflicting information is being provided.
Any info you could provide to me regarding if I qualify though state insurance be very much appreciated.
Thank you
Marie

Hi Marie,

I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm also sorry to hear about your injury and I wish that I could help you, but my expertise is limited to Social Security benefits. I have no knowledge of the health insurance programs that may be available to you, so I can't be of any help.

It sounds like you're already likely receiving all of the Social Security benefits for which you're currently eligible, but I'd be happy to try to answer any questions that you may have about your Social Security benefits.

Best, Jerry
