Do I Need To Do Anything Regarding Medicare?

I will be turning 65 this August and I work full time and I am covered by my wifes medical insurance. Do I have to do anything as far as Medicare if I will continue to work full time and will be covered by wifes medical insurance going forward? Thank you.

Hi. You don't need to do anything as long as a) your wife is actively working, b) your covered by her employer group health plan (EGHP), and c) there are at least 20 employees covered under the EGHP. You could sign up for Part A of Medicare since it's premium free, but it's not required as long as you're not drawing Social Security benefits.

You'll likely want to sign up for Parts A & B of Medicare at least by the time your wife retires, though, so you'll want to research on Social Security's website: https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/medicare/#anchor3.

Best, Jerry
