Can My Eleven Year Old Daughter Get Her Deceased Father's Benefits?

My eleven-year-old daughter is father has died and I was wondering can she get his Social Security what do I have to do to get it he died in Daytona Beach Florida

Hi. Your daughter can't get her father's actual Social Security benefits, but she could potentially qualify for survivor benefits assuming that her father worked and paid into Social Security long enough to be insured for survivor benefits. Furthermore, if your daughter is in your care and if you were married to her father, then you may also be able to qualify for survivor benefits. I would suggest calling Social Security at 800-772-1213 to see about making an appointment to apply for survivor benefits.

Best, Jerry
