Can I Still Be Eligible For Widow's Benefits If I Subsequently Remarried And Divorced?

My husband of 14 years passed away. I remarried at age 5,7 but the remarriage ended in divorce. Am I still eligible to receive widows benefit from my deceased husband?

Hi,

Yes, if you are now unmarried you could potentially draw widow's benefits on your deceased husband's record. However, you must also meet the other requirements for entitlement, which can be found in Social Security's handbook: https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.04/handbook-0401.html.

Best, Jerry
