Can I Draw Survivor Benefits When I Reach Age 60?

Im 55 my Husband died I take care of His and my Daughter can I story to fill at age 60 for Benefits .

If I want to move back to Germany do I get the same Benefits .for my Daughter and me after my Husband passed

Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like you might qualify for survivor benefits now if your husband was insured for Social Security benefits and if either a) you're disabled, or b) your daughter is under age 16 or disabled and she's eligible for child benefits on your husband's account. At age 60, you could potentially qualify for widow's benefits even if you aren't disabled and if you don't have an eligible child in your care.

Assuming that you're a citizen of either the U.S. or Germany, you could continue to collect any U.S. Social Security benefits for which you qualify if you move to Germany.

Best, Jerry
