Can I Delete The Online Application That I Started But Didn't Finish?

I stared my online application for Social Security without realizing it was started. I have to wait another year. Can this be deleted? I did not submit it but am worried it will be a problem. If you could advise me on this I would appreciate it

Sincerely, Amanda

Hi Amanda,

As far as I know, there is no way that you can delete an online application once you've started it. However, as long as you don't electronically sign and submit the application by clicking the 'sign now' button, it shouldn't cause any problems. Partially completed online applications remain in Social Security's system for at least 6 months, after which they are purged.

Meanwhile, if you haven't already done so you may want to consider using our software (https://maximizemysocialsecurity.com/purchase) to fully explore and compare all of your filing options so that you can determine the best strategy for maximizing your benefits.

Best, Jerry
