Can I Buy A Duplex And Collect Rent If I'm On SSDI?

hi ,
Iam on ssdi and wanted to make sure that I can buy a duplex and collect rent and live there for 3 years and then buy another one .

Sincerely,
Irene

Hi Irene. Yes, you can buy a duplex and collect rent without affecting your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits. Rental income does not count as earned income for Social Security purposes, and there is no limit on the amount of assets that you can own and still collect SSDI benefits.

Best, Jerry
