Can I Apply For Spousal Benefits At The Same Time That My Spouse Applies?

Born before Jan 2, 1954. Have not applied for my SS benefit yet.
When my spouse applies for SS benefit, can I apply at the same time as Restricted application for my benefit and claim spousal benefit on my spouses's benefit record. Or, I have to wait for my Restricted application until my spouse's benefit gets approved.

Thanks,

Hi. Yes, you can file a restricted application for spousal benefits at the same time that your spouse applies for his or her Social Security retirement benefits. Before filing, though, you may want to strongly consider using our software (https://maximizemysocialsecurity.com/purchase) to fully analyze the options available to you and your spouse in order to determine your best strategy for maximizing your benefits.

Best, Jerry
