Can I Apply For Benefits Based On My Husband's Earnings?

My husband is not a citizen however he paid into social security. He worked in the U..S. for years. I am a citizen. Can I apply for his social security?

Hi,

Possibly. He would have to be entitled to retirement or disability benefits in order for you to be eligible, though, among other requirements. For more information on spousal benefits, refer to Social Security's website: https://www.ssa.gov/planners/retire/applying6.html.

Best, Jerry
