Am I Qualified For Survivor Benefits?

I am 60 years old disabled receiving the SSDI benefits since 2006. My mom died last year and my dad passed away in 1994. Am I qualified for the survivor's benefits?

Hi,

I'm sorry for your loss.

The only type of survivor benefits that you could qualify for from a parent's record are disabled adult child (DAC) benefits, and you would only be eligible for DAC benefits if you became disabled prior to age 22 and you didn't do any substantial gainful work (https://www.ssa.gov/oact/cola/sga.html) after age 22.

Best, Jerry
