I'm 40 years old and have no retirement plans setup.
Looking at the present economic and political situation here do you think SSN will be still available when I retire??
Hi,
I certainly think so. Social Security has been around for 80+ years now, and plays an integral role in our society. It will almost certainly change in future years, though, and the benefit rates relative to contributions may need to be adjusted downward. Even in it's current form Social Security should not, and was never intended to, be thought of as a sole source of retirement income. You will certainly want to save as much as you can for your retirement, and invest your savings wisely.
Best, Jerry
