What Month Do Choose If I Want To Receive An Unreduced Benefit?

I am turning 66 on July 15, 2020 and would like to file for SS benefit that allowed for at my FRA. What month do I need to ask for on Application to receive my first check without reduction for filing before FRA at 66. Thank you, Ben

Hi Ben,

You'll get your full unreduced primary insurance amount (PIA) if you choose to start your benefits effective with July 2020. That's the payment that Social Security pays in August. Before filing, though, you may want to use our software (https://maximizemysocialsecurity.com/purchase) to fully explore all of your options so that you can determine the best possible strategy for claiming your benefits.

Best, Jerry
