How Much Can I Earn Without Affecting My Social Security?

I took retirement at 62 How much can I earn from part time job in 2018 and not effect my social security?

Hi,

The annual earnings test exempt amount for people who are below full retirement age this year is $17,040 (https://www.ssa.gov/planners/retire/whileworking.html). However, if this is your initial year of Social Security benefit entitlement you could also be paid based on a monthly earnings test if it would be more advantageous than the annual test. The monthly test permits benefits to be paid for any month(s) in which a beneficiary earns less than $1,420, regardless of how much they earn during the calendar year (https://www.ssa.gov/planners/retire/rule.html.

Best, Jerry
