How Much Can I Earn In 2018?

I have already started drawing my SS, but plan to return to work. I will reach full retirement age (66) in January 2019. Since January 2018 is one year prior to my full retirement age, how much can I earn in 2018? Does it go off the calendar year you reach FRA or the calendar year? Just abit confused.

Hi,

Your full retirement age is 66, so starting in 2019 you can earn any amount and still be paid all of your Social Security benefits. In 2018, you can earn up to $17,040 without losing any of your benefits. If you earn more than that, you'll lose $1 of your 2018 benefits for each $2 that you earn in excess of $17,040.

Best, Jerry
