Will I Still Receive Both SSD And Widow's Benefits When I Turn Age 66?
I will be 65 January of 2022. I am on SSD and also receiving widows pay. Wiil I still receive both once I turn 66? Thank you for your time!
Hi. Your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits will convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits at the same rate when you reach your full retirement age (FRA). You'll also continue to receive your widow's benefits, but Social Security may combine your two benefit payments into a single payment when you reach FRA. Your total benefit rate won't go down when that happens, and it could even go up if your widow's benefits started after you became entitled to SSDI benefits.
Best, Jerry
