What Do I Need To Do To Get Social Security To Reissue My Benefit Payment That The Bank Returned?

Hello, My very first retirement benefit was direct deposited into my old account which was closed, i called my bank and they said they have returned the funds back to SSA, this was 3 months ago. Now, i changed my direct deposit information and my monthly payments is been deposited into my new account for months now. But i have been expecting SSA to re-pay back the funds my bank returned to my new account. But it has been months and nothing has happen so far. Does it mean i want get the money bacK? what do i need to do?
Thanks.

Hi,

Your new account number has apparently been updated to your record, so Social Security should reissue the benefit payment that was returned to your new account. There's probably not much that you can do beyond following up with Social Security, but if it goes on too long you might want to consider contacting the offices of one of your congressional representatives for help.

Best, Jerry
