What Can I Do To Get My Son's Benefits Reinstated As Soon As Possible?

We lost our home of 26 years and I was getting disability for my 35 year old son Jason, somehow we missed the appointment and I need to reinstate him now that we have moved and have a new address? What do I need to do to reinstate him as quick as possible? Thank You in advance

Hi. What you'll ultimately need to do to get your son's benefits restarted depends on what type of disability benefits he was getting and what type of review you missed. You may just need to fill out forms or report your change of address, but you might need to file a whole new application.

Regardless, though, your first step is to contact Social Security. And, as long as Social Security offices are closed to the public, your only option is to contact them by phone. Social Security's national number is 800-772-1213, but you can also try contacting your local office directly. You can find the phone number for your local office by using the following Social Security website: https://secure.ssa.gov/ICON/main.jsp. However, depending on call volumes and the time that you call, your call may be rerouted to a different office. Any Social Security office should, though, be able to look up your son's record and tell you what you need to do to get his benefits started up again.

Best, Jerry
