Is There Anything I Can Do?

Larry my name. Is Denise I lost my husband several years ago I was on disability when I met him I started working when I was 16 some times three jobs at a time but when I became disable from several strokes I was shock to c the little money I get each month I am just making it it I get a small widow pension but we were not married ten years but we were together over 12years am I getting the right amount each month I have friends that didn't work as long as I did and they get way more than me I need help to find out cause I'm just not getting by thank you b bless

I wish I could be more help, but if you are receiving your own disability benefits and widow's benefits from your husband's record, you likely are already getting all of the benefits for which you are eligible from Social Security. By the way, you don't need to have been married for 10 years in order to qualify for widows benefits unless you were divorced prior to your husband's death.

If you are having trouble meeting your necessary living expenses, you may want to try contacting the Department of Social Services in your area to see if they can offer any help.
