IM ON SSI AND SOCIAL SECURITY CALLED ME AND SAID SINCE IM 62 Y/O AND QUALIFY FOR EARLY RETIREMENT I MUST RETIRE NOW.....OR THEY WILL STOP MY SSI BENEFITS. THEY SAID IT WAS THE LAW.......IS THIS TRUE? THANK YOU

Hi. Yes. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a needs based benefit administered by Social Security. SSI is intended as a last resort source of support for people who are disabled, blind, or at least age 65. In order to qualify for SSI, a person must file for any other type of benefits for which they may qualify, including Social Security.
