If I'm Getting Disability Benefits Will I Be Able To Collect On My Ex-Wife's Social Security When I Turn 62?

I am collecting Ssd $1035 per month and am nearing 62, will I be able to collect on my ex wife,s social security as well when I turn 62?

Hi,

It's possible, but assuming that your ex-spouse is still living you could only qualify for additional divorced spousal benefits if your ex's full retirement age rate (PIA) is more than twice as much as your full Social Security disability (SSDI) rate (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.03/handbook-0311.html). And, if you do qualify for divorced spousal benefits and you file for them at age 62, your divorced spousal rate will be reduced for age.

Best, Jerry
