Am I Entitled To Any Of My Husband's SSI?
Been separated since 2002 my spouse receive SSI am I entitled for any of it
Hi. If by SSI you're referring to Supplemental Security Income, then the answer is no. Supplemental Security Income is needs based, and no auxiliary (e.g. spousal, child) or survivor benefits are payable from that program. But, if your husband is collecting Social Security retirement or disability benefits based on his own work record, then you could potentially be eligible for spousal benefits if you are at least age 62 or if you have a child in your care who is eligible for auxiliary benefits on your husband's account and if the child is either under age 16 or is disabled.
Best, Jerry
