Should I File at Age 62 If I'm Still Working

I have read your book and subscribed to the Maximize my Social Security program. I still have a question for you. I will be 62 in July of 2016 and my husband was 66 in January of 2016. A financial planner advised us to have me file and start taking social security this year and have my husband take his spousal benefit and wait until age 70 to take his benefit. However we are both still working and I would like to continue to work until I am 65 or 66. I make about 70000 to 80000 per year. The social security office told my husband that we should not file at this time. Should I take my application out? I can't seem to find another similar situation as your program suggests we both wait until 70 to collect. What do you think?

Rose,
If you earn $70,000 to $80,000, before your full retirement age (FRA), then both your retirement benefit and you husband's spouse's benefit will be wiped out by the Earnings Test. So, there is no point in filing early. If MaximizeMySocialSecurity says for both of you to wait until age 70, then that assuredly is your best strategy.
Best,
Mike
