Has Social Security Announced The 'Substantial Earnings' Amount For 2017?

In 2015 & 2016 Substantial Earnings in regards to WEP was $22,050. Has SS issued the amount for 2017? I cant find any reference to the 2017 minimum earnings. I want to know how much I need to earn in 2017 for another year mitigating the effects of WEP. Thanks

Hi,

I don't know if the 2017 substantial earnings amount has been determined. If so, it hasn't yet been posted on Social Security's website. It should be announced soon, however, so you may want to keep checking their WEP fact sheet (https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10045.pdf) for updates.

Best, Jerry
