What Do I Do If I Overpaid Medicare Premiums?

I paid my Medicare in October 2021 for November-December 2021 and January 2022. I am getting Social Security since January 2022 and with this I paid overpaid Medicare for January.

Hi. If Social Security withheld Medicare premiums for months that you already paid out of pocket, then they should automatically refund the overpaid amount to you. Just to clarify, though, Medicare premiums are withheld in the month of coverage, whereas Social Security benefits are paid a month behind. So, for example, the Medicare premium withheld from the Social Security benefit payment that a person receives in February covers their Medicare premium for February, even though the benefit payment is for the month of January.

Best, Jerry
