If I Die Does My Spouse Receive My $2500 Benefit?

I took SS at 70, $2500, If i die does my spouse receive my $2500 benefit or my benefit @ my 66 year old rate? My wife took hers @66 as is receiving $1300

Hi. Yes, since your wife has reached full retirement age (FRA) for widow's benefits, if you die before her she'll be eligible for your full higher benefit rate. Technically Social Security would continue to pay your wife her own benefits plus a partial widow's benefit equal to the difference in your benefit rates, but the combined benefit amount would add up to your full age 70 rate.

Best, Jerry
