I'm sorry, but my only area of expertise is Social Security. If you are married now, or if you were widowed or married for more than 10 years and divorced, then you may qualify for additional Social Security benefits based on a spouse's work record.
It sounds like your Social Security benefit amount is close to the cut-off amount for qualifying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which is a needs based program administered by Social Security. The state of New York also has a state supplement program that may be able to provide you with additional income.
